The Big Pilot’s Watch TOP GUN features a 46-millimetre ceramic case that is water-resistant to 6 bar, nonmagnetic, acid-resistant, light and, like titanium, very skin-friendly. With its simple dial and large conical crown, this watch perhaps most closely resembles the Big Pilot’s watch from 1940, and yet it still boasts features that are more common on modern watches, such as a date display and power reserve display. The 51111 calibre, which consists of 311 components, is one of the largest automatic movements manufactured by IWC and, with its patented pawl-winding system, builds up a 7-day power reserve after only 1,960 complete revolutions of the rotor. The sapphire glass on the front has an antireflective coating on both sides and is secured against displacement by sudden drops in pressure in the cockpit.
